Jewelry - The Holiday Guide

Jewelry is always a great gift to give and receive. One of the best things that has happened in the past few years is the explosion of jewelry designers with interesting points of view. And varied price points. The trend is to layer jewelry which leaves plenty of room to mix and match metal colors or stone types, precious and less-so. So don’t stretch yourself on spending unless you can and want to - no matter what your price point, there are a lot more good options now than ever before. If you are on a tight budget, don’t forget the do-it-yourself idea of a friendship bracelet kit a la Taylor Swift, or whip out some embroidery floss and go full summer camp retro and make some bracelets for your dearests.

This necklace (including charms!) is $195 from Jennifer Miller.

I love a good anchor chain (called that because that is how ship chains are made that hold the anchors) and to add two cool pendants for this price is a great value gift. The evil eye wards off any bad sprites that come your way, and the sunburst is joyful. Great combo for a gift that does not break the bank. (Side note: Jennifer Miller does fine jewelry (that means real gems and more significant precious metal content and more expensive) as well as faux so if you don’t know what you are looking for, her site is a great place to start.)

Courtesy of Dolce and Gabbana, the Sicilian designers and part time tax evaders, comes this lovely pendant made of various gemstones. Garnets, topazes, amethysts, and other semi-precious stones make up letters in large and small sizes. Prices around $1,500 for the smaller, and just over $3,000 for the larger ones.

A Los Angeles based designer, Sig Ward has a range of jewelry that takes inspiration from her California surroundings. I am not sure if this is a Mount Baldy inspired-dome or not, but it’s very cool and comes with other stones if diamonds are not called for. About $3,800.

This may be more of an early birthday alert for someone you love given the time needed to make this bracelet custom. That said, I would welcome this any day of the year - fun nostalgic bubble letters with some bling is a definite yes. Cost? Depends. Love the jeweler? Check out her ready-to-shop jewelry here.

Tear Drop Stud from The Last Line

Pink Sapphire stud and 14k gold stud with matching pink sapphire teardrop gives a little movement and grace to a traditional stud. Please note, the stud is sold as a singleton. For a pair, please add two to the cart. One is perfect for someone who has multiple piercings or just one. If the person has the more traditional one piercing per ear, buy two studs. Also comes in diamond, emerald, and blue sapphire.

Very well priced at $365.

These are on sale right now for just under $400 which is a good price for this type of hoop from the designer. The brand bills itself as “afrofuturist” and it’s frankly really cool. I would be psyched to get any of their pieces - I would feel cooler than I am, which is always a plus.

Anne Sisteron Ear Climber, Diamond and 14k Gold

Great small piece of fine jewelry, well priced at $300. This is for one ear, just so you are not surprised. Cool and trendy look, I would give to someone who is younger than me like a special sitter or assistant or if I was younger to a friend.

Danish cool-girl designer Sophie Bille Brahe updates the classic take on pearls here with a cascade of sizes. $1,500 with 14k gold and freshwater pearls, and an instant hit.

This is one of those times where I like the designer doing the work for me and making a collection that goes together. The three rings look rich and good together. By Pariah is a sustainable brand, founded by a British woman, Sophie Howard, and inspired by articles in National Geographic. The price for all three rings together is $3,300 and By Pariah has many variations of stacking rings (and other pieces) on their site. This combination feels more expensive than the price tag, and there is a lot of value in substance here, which I always appreciate.

I love claw the setting of these crystal studs so much, and I like the dragon allusion even more. Great update on a classic stud, and at a very reasonable $149.

I hope these help set you on the way towards finding something beautiful for your giftee or yourself. If you would like more options, or a custom search, please request a gift search from me - there are so many great pieces of jewelry right now across all price points from a wide variety of designers. Happy searching!
